The believer is like a pearl …

Imaam Maalik (rahimahullaah) said:
The believer is like a pearl; wherever he is, his beautiful (qualities) are with him.

Capital of the Believer

The capital of the believer is his religion, it is always with him, he does not leave it behind when on a journey & neither does he entrust it to another.

Fear of Dunya

Are you trying to terrify me with thoughts of poverty, when the only thing that Sufyān fears is that the treasures of this world should be poured down upon him!

Mend Your Relations With Allaah...

“No servant of Allaah mends what is between him & Allaah, except that Allaah mends what is between him & other servants.  And he does not spoil what is between him & Allaah, except that Allaah spoils what is between him & the servants of Allaah. Working for the sake of ones face is easier than working for the sake of all faces. For if you work for the sake of that Face [the Face of Allaah], all faces will turn to you. But if you spoil it, all faces will the detest you.”

Abu Hazim Salamah b. Dinar
[Abu Nu'aym, al-Hilya (3:239)]

O student! If you want knowledge from its sources…

Ibn Barjas:

"O student! If you want knowledge from its sources then you should stick to the great scholars [Kibâr-ul-'ulama]: those who have gray beards & weak bodies & have lost their power in [pursuit of] knowledge & educating. Stick to them before they disappear & take from their treasure before they take it with them. One misses the full-moon in the dark night."

True Goodness

It is reported that ‘Alî b. Abî Tâlib (Allâh be pleased with him) said:

“Goodness is not in your wealth & offspring being plentiful; true goodness is when your [good] deeds are plenty & you have great understanding & forbearance, & when you compete to worship your Lord. If you do good you praise Allâh & thank Him, & if you sin you beg Allâh’s forgiveness. There is no good in this life except with two types of men: A man who sins but then corrects himself through repentance, & a man who strives & hastens to get [the good] of the Hereafter.

Ibn ‘Asâkir, Al-Tawbah article 13.
