Would you like to eat the Flesh of your brother?

Story of the two women fasting during the lifetime
of Allaah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم)

It has been reported in the Musnad of Imaam Ahmad that this breaks the fast:

“Two women were once fasting during the lifetime of Allaah’s Messenger & they almost died of thirst. This was mentioned to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) but he turned away from (allowing) them (to break the fast). Then they were mentioned to him again, so he called for them & ordered them to vomit, i.e. throw up, what was in their stomachs. So they both vomited & filled up a bowl with puss, blood & pieces of flesh. Then the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:

The Last Sermon of Caliph Umar b. Abdul Aziz

This is what I have to say…

‘Umar b. ‘Abd Al-‘Aziz (Allâh have mercy on him) praised Allâh & said, “You were not created in vain, nor will you be left without purpose. Verily, you have an appointed time in which Allâh - the Most High - will come down to judge you. Wretched & ruined will he be who leaves the mercy of Allâh & is denied a Garden whose width is that of the heavens & Earth. Know you not that no one will be safe tomorrow save one who is...

Five Traits for Complete Actions

Dawood ibn Muhammad narrated to us that he heard an Nabaajee saying:

 Flower Power

There are FIVE traits for accepted deeds
  • Having Imaan by knowing Allaah,
  • Knowing the truth,
  • Sincerely performing worship to Allaah,
  • Acting upon the Sunnah and
  • Eating from what is permissible.

If you miss one of these your deeds will NOT be raised. This is because if you know

What is the right age to get children used to fasting?

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

Allaah has enjoined fasting upon every Muslim who is accountable, able to do it & not traveling. As for young children who have not yet reached the age of puberty, fasting is not obligatory for them, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The pen has been lifted from three” & he mentioned young children until they reach puberty. But the child’s guardian must tell him to fast if he reaches an age where he is able to do so, because that comes under the heading of training him to implement the pillars of Islam. We see some people leaving their children alone & not telling them to pray or fast, but this is wrong, & he (the parent) will be responsible for that before Allaah. They say that they do not make their children fast out of kindness & compassion towards them, but in fact the one who is truly kind & compassionate towards his child is the one who trains him to acquire good characteristics & to do righteous deeds, not the one who refrains from disciplining and training him in a beneficial manner.

A MUST READ ...

This is a Khutbah given by Brother Musa Millington (Hafidahullaah) in Aldana street Friday 27th August 2010 concerning Ramadhan.

After praising Allaah: Oh Muslims, verily we are in a blessed month. A month in which the Qur'aan was sent, a month in which there is a night better than 1,000 months. A month in which Allaah
سُبحانه وتعلى frees souls from the Hellfire. A month in which the Shayateen have been chained, the doors of Jannah have been opened and the doors of Jahannam have been closed. The one who fasts in it and stands in it has his previous sins forgiven.

By Allaah this month is a great opportunity for us to come closer to our Lord. And know that this month was not legislated except to gain Taqwa. Allaah
سُبحانه وتعلى  said:

يأيها الذين أمنوا كتب عليكم الصيام كما كتب على الذين من قبلكم لعلكم تتقون

"Oh ye who believe fasting has been prescribed upon you like it has been prescribed unto those before you so that you may fear Allaah."
