Beware of Innovations during Ramadhan.

By: Brother Musa Millington (حفظه الله)

I ask Allaah (سُبحانه وتعالى), the Mighty, to bless us all with a beneficial Ramadhan, a Ramadhan in which we would inculcate the noble characteristic of (taqwa) - piety.

Allaah (سُبحانه وتعالى) has said:

"Oh ye who believe fasting has been prescribed upon you like those before you so that you may gain piety."

One of the many definitions of taqwa (piety) is to obey Allaah (سُبحانه وتعالى) in what he has legislated and to distance oneself from what he has prohibited wanting by this the pleasure of Allaah.

From the matters which have been forbidden in the legislation is innovation (بدعة). The Prophet (صلى الله عليه و سلم) said in the Hadeeth of 'Irbaad Ibn Saariyah:

"و إياكم و محدثات الأمور فإن كل محدثة بدعة و كل بدعة ضلالة و كل ضلالة في النار"

And beware of newly invented matters in this religion, for every newly invented matter is an innovation & every innovation is misguidance & every (person of) misguidance is in the Hellfire.

Why Fast?

By: Brother Musa Millington (حفظه الله)

Many non-Muslims may ask us why is it that we must fast from food, drink and our desires from dawn to sunset every day for thirty days.

Now, in many instances Allaah (سُبحانه وتعالى) may not have clarified the wisdom in doing something. Therefore, upon us Muslims is to obey regardless of whether or not we know the wisdom behind what we are doing. As Allaah (سُبحانه وتعالى) has said:
" و ما اتاكم الرسول فخذوا و ما نهاكم عنه فانتهوا"
Whatever the Messenger gave you take it and whatever he has prohibited you from leave it.’

However, in this case, Allaah (سُبحانه وتعالى) has been so Merciful that the wisdom of fasting has been mentioned in His Book, the Qur'aan, & in the Sunnah of the final servant & Messenger (صلى الله عليه و سلم).

Ramadhan The Month of Taqwa

 A MUST READ ...

  By Brother Musa Millington (Hafidahullaah)

After praising Allaah: Oh Muslims, verily we are in a blessed month. A month in which the Qur'aan was sent, a month in which there is a night better than 1,000 months. A month in which Allaah سُبحانه وتعلى frees souls from the Hellfire. A month in which the Shayateen have been chained, the doors of Jannah have been opened and the doors of Jahannam have been closed. The one who fasts in it and stands in it has his previous sins forgiven.

By Allaah this month is a great opportunity for us to come closer to our Lord. And know that this month was not legislated except to gain Taqwa. Allaah
سُبحانه وتعلى  said:

"Oh ye who believe fasting has been prescribed upon you like it has been prescribed unto those before you so that you may fear Allaah."

Oh Muslims! Oh believers, you left off your food, your drink & your desires in order to gain Taqwa. And Taqwa is to do what Allaah سُبحانه وتعلى  has told us & to stay away from what he has prohibited us from upon knowledge, wanting reward from Allaah سُبحانه وتعلى & fearing His punishment. And it is to bring between yourself & the punishment of Allaah سُبحانه وتعلى  a veil or a covering.

From this we know that Taqwa is the most precious commodity of the Muslim. For it is the best of clothing that we carry upon our bodies. Allaah
سُبحانه وتعلى  has said:
"And the clothing of Taqwa this is best."
And also Taqwa is the best of travelling equipment. Allaah سُبحانه وتعلى  has said:
"And take travelling equipment with you for the best of this is Taqwa."
And Taqwa is the reason to worship Allaah سُبحانه وتعلى  alone. Allaah has said:
"Oh mankind worship your Lord who created you & those before you so that you may fear him."

Khutbah about the Messenger

A Poet stated:
And if your love was true you would have followed him
For verily the one who loves someone follows him.”

After Khutbah Al Haajah:

Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى has blessed us with sending Muhammad (صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم). He is the intermediary between Allaah and his creation in delivering the message (which Allaah gave him). And from what is specific to him is that he was sent to Allaah of Mankind. Allaah has said: “Say (O Muhammad) O people verily I am the Messenger of Allaah to all of you”. And he has said in a Hadeeth that is agreed upon by Imam Al Bukhari and Imam Muslim: “And I was sent to all of mankind”. And he is the last of the Prophets sent to mankind, therefore there is no Prophet after him. Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى has said: “Muhammad is not the father of any of your men but he is the Messenger of Allaah and the final of the Prophets”. And the Messenger of Allaah (صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم) has said: “There will be thirty liars after me, all of them will say that he is a Prophet and there is no Prophet after me”.

Funny stuff

From Musa Millington's Blog

A brother I know was telling me a story that they had a meeting. And another brother was very angry because he felt that gossip was being spread about him. So he said: “I heard that there were certain allegations about me. I would like to know who is the alligator”.
