Beg Allaah for steadfastness

Sheikh Uthaimeen (رحمه الله) said,

“I advise myself  & you to always ask Allaah for steadfastness upon faith & that you have fear–for below your feet are pitfalls, if Allaah, the Mighty & Majestic, does not keep you firm, you will fall into destruction.”

Supplication when seeking Laylatul-Qadr & its signs

Animated wallpaper, screensaver 240x320 for cellphone

 Narrated Aaisha رضي الله عنها
She said: "O Messenger of Allaah! If I find it (The Night Of Decree), with what should I supplicate?" Heصلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم  said:

اللْهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي

(( Say: Allaahumma innaka 'afuwun tuhibbul-'afwa fa'fu 'annee.))
"O Allaah! Verily, you are the Oft-Pardoning, You love to pardon, so pardon me."
[Ahmad]

Question: What are the signs of Laylatul-Qadar (the night of power)?

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qadr -Sheikh ‘Abdur-Raḥmān al-S’adī (رحمه الله)

Animated wallpaper, screensaver 240x320 for cellphone

Allāh, The Might and Sublime, says:

"Verily! We have sent it (this Qurān) down in the night of al-Qadr.
And what will make you know what the night of al-Qadr is?
The night of al-Qadr is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshiping Allāh in that night is better than worshiping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months).
Therein descend the angels and Jibrīl by Allāh’s permission with all decrees. Peace! until the appearance of dawn."
[Sūrah al-Qadr (97): 1-5]

Imām al-S’adī [d. 1376 AH], رحمه الله, commented on this sūrah by saying:

Allāh, the Most High, says:  ‘Verily! We have sent it (i.e. this Qurān) down in the night of al-Qadr.’ – He, the Most High, revealed this verse in order to make clear it’s (i.e. the night al-Qadr’s) virtue and its high standing. He, The Most High, also says [in another place in the Qurān]: ‘Verily! We have sent it (this Qurān) down on a blessed night.’

What is meant is that Allāh, the Most High, sent it down in Ramaḍān, on the night of al-Qadr. [And by doing so], He, the Most High, showed great mercy to His slaves; and [His] slaves are unable to show [sufficient] thanks for this blessing.

Teach me something...

Animated avatar 100x100

Muhammad bin Haamid said:

"I said to Aboo Bakr al-Waraaq, 'teach me something that will bring me closer to Allaah and bring me closer to the people.' So he said: 'As for what will bring you closer to Allaah, then it is asking of Him (in du'aa). And as for what will bring you closer to the people, it is abandoning asking of them."
{2/35  شعب الايمان}

** Alhamdulillaah, this is a very beneficial advice. There is self-respect, dignity & honour for the Muslim, when he raises his hands ONLY to the Rabbil Aalameen & NOT to His creation. May Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى make us independent of everyone but Him. Let us make use of this blessed month to beg of our Lord for all our needs.. indeed there is so much we helpless creatures need from our Creator.

Awakening the Last Ten Nights of Ramadan

Question: If I want to awaken the last ten nights of Ramadhan when should I begin?

Sheikh ‘Abdul ‘Azeez ibn Baaz رحمه الله answers: “You should begin after the ‘Ishaa prayer. The Messenger of Allaahصلى الله عليه وسلم  used to awaken the last ten nights of Ramadhan, ‘Aaisha رضي الله عنها said:

When the last ten nights of Ramadhan would begin, the Messenger of Allaahصلى الله عليه وسلم  would stay awake at night for prayer and devotion, awaken his family and prepare himself to be more diligent in worship.”

This is what is best if one is capable of doing so. However if one sleeps some of the night to strengthen himself then that is fine. As for one who Allaah granted him the power and ability to remain awake during them, then this is the sunnah and something that draws near to Allaah. (Awakening the nights) is by prayer, recitation of the Qur’aan, supplication, seeking forgiveness, etc.”

[The reader of the question says] “Can you kindly mention the dates so that perhaps she can intend to do them?
