Allaah سُبحانه
وتعالى says:
إِنَّ اللّهَ يُحِبُّ التَّوَّابِينَ وَيُحِبُّ
الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ
“Truly, Allâh loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and loves
those who purify themselves...”
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:222)
This is the daleel (evidence) that if one wants to obtain the love of
Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى he must perform Wudhu. The above verse consists of two meanings:
Allaahسُبحانه
وتعالى loves those who repent regularly / consistently. The Prophet صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم repented to Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى more than 70 to 100 times a day. So what about us?
With the
love of Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى comes ‘Thawfeeq’.
The Prophet صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم said:
“All of you sin daily..”
** This necessitates that we repent daily. اللهم اغفرلي
The purification is of two kinds:
1)
Purification of the
heart
2)
Purification of the
body
(To obtain the love of Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى we have to purify both our heart and body.)
What are the benefits of “Tahaarah (Wudhu)?”
1)
It necessitates the love of Allaah سُبحانه
وتعالى.
2)
This is a
reason for Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى to forgive
our sins - (Maghfiratut Dunoob).
Hadeeth of
Uthman رضي
اللّه عنـه
in Saheeh
Muslim:
Uthman رضي اللّه عنـه said: “I saw the Prophet صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم make Wudhu and he perfected
it.” Then
he demonstrated how Wudhu should be performed. Thereafter he said: “Whoever
makes Wudhu like this and goes to the Masjid, then the reward is that he is
forgiven for his sins.”
** Perfected: to perform Wudhu
without any deficiency; to perform all the characteristics of Wudhu.
** One should go to the Masjid with
the sole intention of salaah alone to reap the benefit of having the sins
forgiven. (Not to meet a brother for any other reason; i.e. nothing should make
him go the Masjid except for salaah),
In another narration which is also a Hadeeth narrated by Uthman رضي اللّه عنـه :
“The Prophet صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم
came and made Wudhu and he perfected his Wudhu. Thereafter he went to
the Masjid and performed two raka’ats. Then Uthman رضي
اللّه عنـه said: “Whoever does so, then his previous
sins are forgiven.”
Important points:
* Purification
(Wudhu) is a sabab (reason) for the love of Allaah سُبحانه
وتعالى ;
* We are constantly
in Ibaadah;
* No soul knows what
they will earn tomorrow and when death will take us. So we must make an effort
to perfect our Wudhu.
