Do not Run Away from Qur’aan – Shaik Ibn Baaz rahimahullah

Do not Run Away from Qur’aan – Shaik Ibn Baaz rahimahullah

[Q]: What is your advice – O Shaykh – for those who go without reading the Qur’aan for a month, or even many months, and who have no excuse for such behaviors? However, you will find some of them reading those magazines that contain no benefit for them, and following them up closely!

[A]: “It is recommended for every Believing man and woman to recite the Book of Allaah often, with due contemplation and understanding. This may be done by using a copy of the Qur’aan or from one’s memory. Allaah – the Most High – said: “This is a Book which We have sent down to you, full of blessings, that you may ponder over its Verses, and that men of understanding may remember.” [Soorah Saad 38:29].And: “Indeed those who recite the Book of Allaah and offer the Prayer perfectly and spend in charity out of what We have provided for them – secretly and openly – hope for a sure trade-gain that will never perish. That He may pay them their wages in full and give them even more out of His Grace. Indeed, He is Oft-Forgiving, ready to appreciate good deeds.” [Soorah Faatir 35:29-30].

The aforementioned recitation of the Qur’aan includes both reciting and acting upon it. The recitation is to be done with contemplation and understanding of it. Sincerity to Allaah is a means of complying with and acting upon the Qur’aan, and its recitation contains a great reward – as the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: “Recite the Qur’aan. For on the Day of Resurrection, it shall come as an intercessor for its companion.” This was recorded by Muslim in his Saheeh (no.804). The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam also said: “The best of you is he who learns the Qur’aan and teaches it.” This was Recorded by al-Bukhaaree in his Saheeh (3/66). Another narration states: “Whosoever reads one harf (letter) of the Qur’aan shall receive a good deed and ten good deeds similar to it. I do not say that Alif Laam Meem is a harf but Alif is a harf and Laam is a harf and Meem is a harf.”12 The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam said to ‘Abdullaah ibn “Amr ibn al-‘Aas: “Complete the recitation of the Qur’aan once a month.” He said: I am able to do more than that. So he said: “Then complete its recital once in seven days.”13 The Companions used to complete the entire Qur’aan once every seven days.

So I advise all the readers of the Qur’aan to increase in their reading of it, with contemplation and understanding it, along with sincerity to Allaah in this – with the purpose of learning and benefiting from the Qur’aan. They should read the entire Qur’aan once a month. If, however, they are able to do more than this without any difficulty, then they should complete it in less than this time. However, it is best not to complete it in less than three days, since this is the least amount of time that the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam mentioned to ‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Amr ibn al-‘Aas. This is because if it is read in less than three days, the person becomes hasty and lacks thought and concentration …”14

12. Saheeh: Recorded by at-Tirmidhee (no.2912), who authenticated it, from the hadeeth of ‘Abdullaah ibn Mas’ood radiallaahu ‘anhu.
13. Recorded by al-Bukhaaree (no.5054).

Refuting the claim that celebrating the Mawlid is a good Bid`ah

Image result for imitating the kuffar

Q: Our question is about celebrating the Mawlid (the Prophet's birthday). Is it Bid`ah (innovation in Islaam)? I heard in some places and from some scholars that it is a good Bid`ah and Allaah knows best, may Allaah bless you!

The refutation to the claim that celebrating the Prophet's birthday is a good innovation can be found here

Beware Of logical Conclusions!!

Ash-Sha'bee رحمه الله said:

"Beware of logical conclusions. By the One in Whose Hand my soul is, if you rely upon Qiyaas you will declare that which is impermissible permissible and that which is permissible impermissible. So whatever is conveyed to you by those who narrate upon the companions, HOLD ONTO IT!!

Keeping photographs for remembrance!!

Image result for camera

Question: Is it permissible for Muslim to keep photographs for the purpose of remembrance.

Answer: No, it is NOT permissible for a Muslim to keep photographs for the purpose of remembrance. This is with regards to photographs of living things (with souls) among the children of Adam and others. It is obligatory to destroy them due to what has been established from the Messenger of Allaah صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم that he said to 'Ali رضي اللّه عنـه:

"Do not leave a photo except that you efface and destroy it, and do not leave a raised grave that you flatten it."

It is also established from the Messenger of Allaah صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم that he prohibited photographs to be hung in the Kaa'bah, since he saw them hung on its walls. He صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم then requested water and a piece of cloth and wiped them off. As for the photos of non-living things, such as mountains, trees and the likes, there is no problem in keeping them.

At least complete the recitation of the Qur'aan every month… !

Image result for quran

Explained by Sheikh Saleh al Fawzaan  حفظه الله

If a month passes by and the Qur’aan has not been completed, then this is neglect!!

Allaah سبحانه و تعالى sent down this Qur’aan to be recited and implemented. He did not send it down for it to be placed in books and Mushafs and  for it to be preserved on shelves and cupboards. Rather, it is to be recited night and day. A Muslim recites it in every available situation and the Scholars have stated….

The Companions, (may Allaah be pleased with them), used to portion out the Qur’aan. They used to set a portion (to recite) during the night and during the night prayer. Some of them would complete reciting it in three nights, others in seven and ten nights.

The Description of Ilm (Knowledge)

Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله

There are many from the students of knowledge whose intention in seeking knowledge is nothing except for the attainment of leadership or wealth, and for every person is that which he intended. As for the people of knowledge and religion, they are the (true) people of knowledge.  This is what’s intended with them due to its benefit for them and their need for it in this life as well as in the hereafter. Just as Mu’aadh ibn Jabal (رضي اللّه عنـه) stated regarding the description of knowledge:

Indeed the seeking of it for the sake of Allaah is Ibaadah (worship). Reviewing it is a means of glorifying (Allaah).  The research of it is striving (for the sake of Allaah.)  Teaching it to the one who does not know it is sadaqah (charity). By way of it Allaah it is known and they worship Him.  Also (by way of it) Allaah is magnified and singled out (for all that which is specifically for Him). Based upon this we find the people who benefit from it and their souls are purified by way of it. They intend with it the following of the truth and not the following of desires. The traverse on it: the path of justice and fairness. They love it and find delight with it. They love an abundance of it and the abundance of its people.
