Question 76:
What is the ruling of cursing and insulting the companions?

Answer:

It is disbelief - (كُفُر  Kufr).

What is obligatory upon us concerning the Sahabas is that we love and respect them and we defend their honour. We remain silent with regards to matters pertaining to their disagreements and fighting. The one who insults them is a Munaafiq (hypocrite) since only those who are submerged in hypocrisy insult the companions. How could it be otherwise since the Prophet (صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم) stated as recorded in the hadith of ibn Masud (رضي اللّه عنـه):

"The best of people are from my nation (time), then those who follow them... then those who follow them in my generation."

Whether they call it Hurricane Irna or Katrina, The Wind Is Not Cursed

From Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه that the Prophet  said:

«الرِّيحُ مِنْ رُوحِ اللَّهِ تَأْتِي بِالرَّحْمَةِ ، وَتَأْتِي بِالْعَذَابِ ، فَلَا تَسُبُّوهَا ، سَلُوا اللَّهَ خَيْرَهَا ، وَاسْتَعِيذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شَرِّهَا

The Wind is from the mercy of Allaah for His worshippers, sometimes it comes with mercy and sometimes it comes with punishment. So if you see it do not curse it, ask Allaah for the good of it and seek refuge with Allaah from its evil.

From Ubay bin Ka’ab [رضي الله عنه] said that the Messenger of Allaah [صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم ] said:

Do not curse the wind, if you see something that you dislike of the wind then say: ‘O Allaah indeed we ask of You for the good from this wind and the good which is in it and the good with which You have commanded it with. We seek refuge with You from the evil from this wind and the evil which is in it and the evil with which You have commanded it with.'

Use Hikmah when Dealing with a Sinner!!

Sheikh ibn Uthaimeen رحمه الله تعالى said:

When they see a person sinning, many brothers hate the sin and this is something correct, but they [also] hate the sinner, and then they deal with him harshly as someone who hates him would, like someone who wants to take revenge on him, and this is a huge mistake.

"Growing one's nails deliberately for beautification is in opposition to the Sunnah  of the Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم and a resemblance to the animals and some disbelievers."

Rectification of oneself

Sheikh ibn Uthaimeenرحمه الله  تعالى  said:

"It is obligatory upon a person to begin with his own self by enjoining upon himself that which is obligatory, thereafter forbidding himself from all that is sinful.

The one that has the most right to be fulfilled after the rights of the Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم, is your own self.

BEGIN WITH YOUR OWN SELF

Prevent your nafs from exceeding the boundaries‼

If this is implemented, you are Hakim - Wise."

Talk about the Day of Arafa'ah

Yawmul Arafa'ah

By: AbdurRahman al-Ghayaani

This is a brief description of the Day of 'Arafah and its rights by our Beloved Brother Abu Abdullah abdur Rahman Al-Ghayaani (may Allaah have mercy upon him).

This lecture was delivered at the Hajj Conference of 1434 to Masjid Al-Imaam Muqbil in London via teleconference and was introduced by our Noble Brother Abu Mu'aawiyah Mustafa Al-Amreeki - may Allah have mercy upon them both - he and the speaker were martyred by the oppression of the Raafidah in Yemen during the last siege of Daarul Hadeeth, Dammaaj.

After Abdur Rahman’s body was recovered the students stood in line to witness the amazing sight of Abdur Rahman smiling from ear to ear and a very strong smell of musk (perfume) emanating from him. We ask Allaah the One Who is Able to Do all things to Accept them both as Shaheed.

The lecturer, Abdur Rahmaan Al-Ghayaani, was from the senior foreign English speaking students in Damaaj and was well known for being consistent in reciting the daily Hadeeth memorized by students aloud in the Al-Bukhari and Jaami'As-Saheeh lessons and his inspirational advice that he would give the students.

Listening to this lecture brings tears to the eyes as we are sure it will to all those who know him. However, we remind ourselves and everyone else with that which has been reported by Al-Laalikaa’i on the authority of Mu'tamir bin Sulaiman (may Allah have mercy upon him) who said:

I entered upon my father and I was heartbroken.
He said: What is with you?
I said: My friend passed away.
He said: Did he die upon the Sunnah?
I said: Yes
He said: Do not fear for him then.
