Which is better, patience or tests or prevailing?

Trials prepare the believers to prevail on earth..

It was said to Imaam al-Shaafi’i (may Allaah have mercy on him):

Which is better, patience or tests or prevailing?
He said: Prevailing is the level attained by the Prophets, & there can be no prevailing except after trials. If a person is tried he will become patient, & if he remains patient he will prevail.

Iblees tries to make people lazy procrastinators, and to make them have hope (of a long life)..

Ibn al-Jawzi رحمه الله  said:

Many Jews and Christians contemplated joining Islaam, but Iblees convinced them to procrastinate saying: “Do not rush, look more into the issue,” until they die as non-Muslims.

He also causes the sinner to procrastinate seeking repentance.

A poet said:

“Do not rush into committing a sin, and then procrastinate repenting.”

Seize the Opportunity in Accompanying the Best of People..

Imaam as-Sa’dee (رحمه الله) said:

Certainly, a person will have companions and contemporaries with whom he associates, and with whom he spends a lot of his time. Therefore, seize the opportunity in accompanying the best of the people in whose company there is not an absence of knowledge to be learnt, an advice to be benefitted from or pre-occupation with that which draws one closer to Allaah. The least (acquired in their company) is that you will be safeguarded from being held responsible in speech and action; alongside being safeguarded from being ridiculed, slandered and backbitten whether you are present or absent. There is also that great benefit of your heart’s desire for good being increased and cultivated, and the urge towards evil is either weakened or made to vanish.

Making mankind excessive & wasteful is a plot of Shaitaan...

Sheikhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:

Shaitaan wants mankind to be excessive and wasteful in all his matters. Indeed, if the Shaitaan sees him inclining towards mercy excessively, then the Shaitaan beautifies mercy so much so that the human does not hate that which Allaah hates, nor is he protective over that which Allaah is protective.

Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى said:

'And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: “This (Prophet Muhammad) is a sorcerer, a liar. Has he made the aaliha (gods) (all) into One Ilaah (God – Allaah). Verily, this is a curious thing!”'

Beautiful advice from Sheikh ‘Abdul ‘Azeez Ibn Baaz رحمه الله

It was said to the Sheikh, "O' Sheikh, so and so has become misguided".

Sheikh  رحمه الله replied:
"Perhaps his deviation was due to two things:

1. He didn’t ask Allaah for Ath-thabaat (firmness);
2. He didn’t thank Allaah for Al-Istiqaamah (steadfastness).

So when Allaah chose for you the path of guidance, it was not because you are special, nor was it because of your obedience. But rather, it was a mercy from Him that enveloped you. He can remove it from you at any time.

Firmness Of The Heart & Reliance On Allaah

Imaam Abdur-Rahman bin Nasir As-Sa'di (رحمه الله)

Among the greatest cures to nervous and mental disorders, and even other illnesses of the body, is the firmness of the heart and its strength and lack of its being troubled and perturbed by illusions and imaginations brought about by evil thoughts. This is because whenever a person lets imaginations get the better of him, and allows his heart to be perturbed by negative effects like fear of illness, or anger and confusion over some painful situation, or anxiety over something bad happening or over the expected loss of cherished things, whenever he lets that happen, it will surely throw him into the den of grief, sorrow, and physical and mental illnesses, and a nervous breakdown whose terrible effects are well known to all.

1.     When the  حُرُوف العِلَّة  is in the place of  ف  al-kalimah, no change occurs to the word when we conjugate it in the past tense. It is just like Saalim.
