Treating others kindly

Cake On A Plate And Two Cups Of Tea On The Table With Flowers ...

The person who treats others kindly and thinks well of them, will find that his intention will remain true, he will feel at ease, his heart will be sound and Allaah will protect him from evil and calamity.

Not Everyone Is Suitable To Be Your Friend

Ibnul-Qayyim رحمه الله تعالى said:

Know that the greatest of losses is for you to be preoccupied with one who will bring you nothing but a loss in your time with Allaah سبحانه و تعالى  and being cut off from Him, a wasting your time with the person, a weakening of your energy, and the dispersing of your resolve. So, if you are tested with this – and you must be tested with this – deal with him according to how Allaah would wish, and be patient with him as much as possible. Get closer to Allaah and His Pleasure by way of this person, and make your getting together with him something to benefit from, not something to incur a loss from.

Do you want Allaah to reciprocate your evil with gooness?

Ibnul-Qayyim رحمه الله تعالى said,

“Whoever would love that Allaah سبحانه و تعالى reciprocates his evil with goodness, let him reciprocate the evil people do towards him with goodness.”

Reflecting upon the patience of Yoosuf ( عليه السلام)

Ibnul-Qayyim رحمه الله said: I heard Sheikh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله say:

((The patience of Yoosuf عليه السلام against compliance to the wife of Al-‘Azeez in her matter was more complete than his patience over his being thrown into the well by his brothers and his being sold off as well as their separating him from his father. For these affairs passed him whilst he had no choice in them, he was not secure from them; the servant is in no position in them except to have patience. As for his patience from committing sin; then that was practicing a patience of choice and waging a war upon the Nafs (inner-self/soul).

The Doors of Success - Ibnul-Qayyim رحمه الله

The doors of success have been closed upon the creation because of six things:

Their busying themselves with the blessings of Allaah instead of thanking Allaah for them, their desire for knowledge while they abandon actions, the hastiness to sin and delaying repentance, the deception of having righteous companions and not taking them as examples, the turning away of the dunya from them while they chase it, and the approach of the afterlife towards them while they turn away from it.”

A Forgotten Sunnah

Ibnul Qayyim رحمه الله تعالى said:

"The Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم used to drink honey and water first thing in the morning. In it is a hidden cure for the preservation of one's health. None will benefit from it except the intelligent."

Being close to Allaah...

Ibnul Qayyim رحمه الله تعالى

Being Close to Allaah
سبحانه و تعالى makes:

Every difficulty become insignificant....

Every hardship become easy....

Every, distant matter become close....

So, by being close to Allaah,
every worry, fear and sadness ceases.

The Divine decree is always a bounty!!!

The Divine decree related to the believer is always a bounty, even if it is in the form of withholding (something that is desired), and it is a blessing, even if it appears to be a trial, and an affliction that has befallen him is in reality, a cure even though it appears to be a disease!

Unfortunately, due to the ignorance of the worshipper, and his transgressions, he does not consider anything to be a gift or a blessing or a cure unless he can enjoy it immediately, and it is in accordance with his nature.

If he were only given a little bit of understanding, then he would have counted being withheld from as a blessing, and the sickness as a mercy and he would relish the trouble that befalls him more than he relishes his ease, and he would enjoy poverty more than he enjoys richness, and he would be more thankful when he is blessed with little than when he is blessed with a lot.

What removes sadness...

Ibnul Qayyim رحمه الله تعالى states in Zaad al-Maad:

"The past will not be removed by sadness....
Rather what removes it is being pleased with your decree….!
Patience… Praise… and accepting the decree, while saying,
"the decree of Allaah, He سبحانه و تعالى does as He wills" '

Having Confidence In Allaah

                    Ibnul Qayyim رحمه الله said:

أَنَّ الثِّقَةَ خُلَاصَةُ التَّوَكُّلِ وَلُبُّهُ

"Confidence in Allaah is the conclusion of Tawwakul and its core!"

And then he mentions a great example of it:

"He brought in this chapter His statement, the Exalted of Umm Musa:

فَإِذَا خِفْتِ عَلَيْهِ فَأَلْقِيهِ فِي الْيَمِّ وَلَا تَخَافِي وَلَا تَحْزَنِي
‘When you fear for him, then cast him into the river and fear not, nor grieve..’
[Al Qasas, 28:7]

For verily what she did here is the very essence of having confidence in Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى. If it was not for the completeness of her confidence in Allaah, she would not have thrown her child, her prized possession in the stream of water to be played with by the waves and current to where it would land or stop".

Seven Phases of Shaitaan to destroy the son of Adam

Image result for black and white thorny plant

 Ibnul-Qayyim (رحمه الله) said:

“Shaitaan tries to destroy the son of Adam in one of seven phases. Some of them are more intense than others. Shaitaan would not try to destroy him in the next phase until he fails to destroy him in a previous one.

These phases are:
1/ The phase of disbelief in Allaah.
His Deen, His perfect attributes, and in what Rasulullah [صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم] informed us about, and the fact that we will be resurrected. If Shaitaan is successful in misleading the slave in this phase, his enmity towards him would diminish and he would take rest. If the slave succeeds, and survives in this phase, Shaitaan would try to destroy him in the next phase.

2/ The phase of Bid’ah (religious innovation)
Whether it pertains to believing in other than the truth which Rasulullah [صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم] was sent with or by worshipping other than Allaah; such as worshipping idols, and the like. Shaitaan enjoys that one succumbs in this phase, for Bid’ah conflicts with the nature of the Deen and compels one to reject it. Furthermore, the one who observes innovated religious practices would not repent from his actions; rather, he would invite people to his Bid’ah! Observing innovated religious practices would compel one to forge lies against Allaah and speak without knowledge; thus it openly clashes with the Sunnah. Observing minor Bid’ah practices would lead one to observing major Bid’ah practices. In this manner, a person would eventually exit the folds of Islam. Scholars and people of knowledge alone know the real dangers of Bid’ah practices. If a person succeeds and survives in this phase by adhering to the Sunnah, and understanding its texts as the Pious Predecessors understood them, Shaitaan would seek to destroy him in the next phase.

3/The phase of major sins
If he is able to destroy the slave in this phase, he would beautify the deed that he is doing and probably compel him to say the following: “No sin would harm the Tawheed (creedal belief) as no good deed would benefit a man who has committed Shirk (i.e. to associate partners with Allaah)? If the person is successful and survives this phase, Shaitaan would seek to destroy him in the next phase.
