Alhamdulillaah! We are finally here in Dammaj..

Letters To My Precious Mother... (1)

Our New Home in the birthplace of the Reviver of the Sunnah, the Great Scholar Muqbil ibn Haadee Al-Waadi'ee (Rahimahullaah)

Darul Hadeeth, Dammaj, Yemen

Alhamdulillaah, the decision to come to Dammaj was one of the BEST decision we as a family ever made. SubhanaAllaah! I cannot explain in words the ni'mah of this place.. everything according to the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam). You have to see for yourself to belive it!! See no evil.. smile.. makes it easier for us to practice our Deen. All those who are here have migrated from their homelands, have done hijrah or are seeking ilm. They are here for one purpose and that is for the sake of Allaah azzawajal, to learn His Deen from the rightly guided Ulema of Sunnah... sacrificing their Dunya for the Aakhirah which is forever. Allaah (subhanahu wa ta'ala) makes the path to Jannah that of ease for a student of knowledge. Alhamdulillaah! This is a great motivation and a goal to focus on...! Jannah... a place of eternal happiness.. no sorrow, no pain, no sadness, no sickness.. but happiness forever and forever... !

It feels so good that we are all united under the banner of Laa ilaaha Illallaah, to seek ilm for His pleasure alone.. striving for Jannah. Various nationalities .. you name it… Americans, British, Russians, Indonesians, French, Tanzanians, Indians, Pakistani, Sri Lankans, Canadians, Somalis, … the list is endless…! Though things sound rosy in that aspect, it has its trials too. There is no gain without pain. smile.

I cannot explain to you all the joy we felt the day we arrived in Dammaj, the lighthouse of Islaam. It's a beautiful valley between the mountains... grapevines & pomegranates to welcome us.. with houses of clay nested here and there... so much of simplicity! what a sight. It was breathtaking the beautiful landscape.. with corn fields, stretches of Sidr trees, sand dunes, mountains.. greenery.. after a tiring 8 and 1/2 hours journey from San'a in a local bus. What an experience. Thanked Allaah for helping us make it especially sitting in that position without leg room with bags and baggages on every spare part of our body.. smile.. and Aasiya (my 4 year old) being passed around like 'passing the parcel' from one lap to the other. There is so much sweetness in our Eemaan when it is being done for His pleasure and the pain of fatigue is only a lul. Any other trip I couldn't imagine myself sitting in that position.. being a fuss pot I am and being finicky about dust and dirt.. leave alone my aches and pains and restless legs and fibromyalgia... SubhanaAllaah. What can I say...? Allaah does make it easy and there is no doubt in that!

As we entered you could see nothing but the students (locals and foreign) dressed according to the Sunnah... thobe, isbaal observed.. beards and more beards.. smile.. each one greeting each other with 'Assalamu alaikum,' no mingling of the sexes.. women walking on one side of the road whilst the men on the other side. Alhamdulillaah! Then ofcourse music to my ears... the language of Arabic... it was so so nice to hear people speak to each other in the language our Noble Book was revealed in. No matter which country the students hailed from, they were all talking to each other in Arabic. It was like mini Makkah here.. people from all walks of life.. blacks & whites, rich & poor, short & tall... Africans, Europeans, Asians, Arabians... carpenters, plumbers, teachers, cooks... Hmm different occupations too from different continents mutually benefiting each other... I was indeed fascinated to hear all this info from the live commentary from my husband who had already benefited from his studies in Dammaj for the past 1 1/2 years. SubhanaAllaah! Familiar faces greeted my Zawj happily:'hayyaakallaah'... happy that we , his family have joined him too.

I was busy clicking pictures for my blog to share this experience with all of you'll ofcourse avoiding all the suwar. The women were so well covered... jilbaab, niqaab, gloves, socks..... from head to toe fully covered. No uncovered women at all. Finally a fitna free place with NO bill boards.. no advertisements of any kind!  A safe haven for our men folk... (smile!!) Even the kids whether boys or girls no matter how little they were.. all adhering to the Islaamic clothing... no figures on their clothes... accessories etc. Alhamdulillaah!

Stay tuned to read more extracts of my journal bi’ithnillaahi… Insha-Allaah will be posting whenever I have access to the internet .. smile! I have to run now as it’s time to make dinner and our electricity will go off in a an hour or so…
Baarakallaahu Feekum to all of you for your sabr. Please keep your comments & suggestions coming… something to motivate me to update my blog.. smile!
