Question 77

Who are those who are known for insulting the companions?

Answer:

The Râfidah (الرَّافِضَة). 

Sheikh Uthaimeen رحمه الله mentioned that the Râfidah are from the Shia sect. The Shia are basically general and the Rafidah are specific. Every Shia is not a Râfidah and but every Râfidah is from the Shia sect. Râfidah are considered disbelievers.

Sheikh Yahya (حفظه الله) mentioned the following hadith:

Imām al-Barbahārī (رحمه الله) stated: “Know that Allaah’s Messenger (صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم) said: “My ummah will divide into 73 sects, all of them will be in the Fire except for one, and that is the Jamā’ah.” It was said, “And who are they, O' Allaah’s Messenger?” He responded, “That which I and my Companions are upon today.”

Sheikh Saleh al Fawzan (حفظه الله) mentioned that: 

"The Râfidah are NOT considered brothers of the Muslims because they are disbelievers." 

Therefore the Râfidah are NOT considered from the 73 sects. 

They are disbelievers. They are called Râfidah from the word '(rafada)' which means 'to rejector or refuse.' The Râfidi rejected Zayd ibn ‘Ali ibn Hussein. The Râfidah insult Abu Bakr and Umar رضي الله عنهم and make them disbelievers saying that they disbelieved after Iman. The Râfidah came to Zayd ibn Ali to inquire after Abu Bakr and Umar رضي الله عنهم and Zayd praised them replied that: 'they were both ministers of my grandfather.' Because of this statement they then rejected Zayd ibn Ali. They claim love for Ahl-al-Bayt -- praising them and going overboard in their love for them.

Ruling on cursing & insulting the companions

Question 76:

What is the ruling of cursing and insulting the companions?

Answer:

It is disbelief - (كُفُر  Kufr).

What is obligatory upon us concerning the Sahabas is that we love and respect them and we defend their honour. We remain silent with regards to matters pertaining to their disagreements and fighting. The one who insults them is a Munaafiq (hypocrite) since only those who are submerged in hypocrisy insult the companions. How could it be otherwise since the Prophet (صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم) stated as recorded in the hadith of ibn Masud (رضي اللّه عنـه):

"The best of people are from my nation (time), then those who follow them... then those who follow them in my generation."

He was the doctor of Sheikh Muqbil رحمه الله and has studied from both Sheikh Muqbil bin Hadee al Wadi'ee رحمه الله  and Sheikh Yahya bin 'Alee al Hajooriee حفظه الله. Though he has written this book for children, it is beneficial for the adults as well. Insha-Allaah this book will teach us the 'Basics of Aqeedah, Tawheed, Fiqh & Seerah' which every Muslim is obligated to know.

48) What is the significance of Dua (دُعَاء  supplication)?

      Dua is ibaadah (worship).

  CONDITIONS OF DU’A

For the Du’a to be answered, there are conditions which have to be fulfilled. Imaam Nawawi رحمه الله mentions in his book ‘al-Adkhaar’, the characteristics (Adab) that one should have when making Du’a.

Choosing a time that is considered noble with Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى. These are times that the Du’as are answered, e.g. Yawmul Arafah, the last hour of Yawmul Jumu’ah, Mondays and Thursdays when a person is fasting, the last of the night wherein Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى says that He descends to the lowest heaven etc.  

Choosing a particular state (condition) that we should be in such as in the position of sujood (prostration), between the adhaan and the iqamah etc. (We will not be going into these daleel right now). 

 

The heart at the time of making Du’a should be soft. If the heart is hard, one cannot benefit from his Du’a. As we all know, the heart goes through different states. Sometimes it is gentle and soft and at other times it is hard. One will feel close to Allaah only if his heart has softness in it, which in turn will benefit his Du’a.

48) What is the significance of Dua (دُعَاء  supplication)?

      Dua is ibaadah (worship).

ما أَهَمِّية الدُّعَاء؟

الدُّعَاء هُوَ العِبَادَة

It is for us to understand that the significance of ** Dua ** (supplication) is ibaadah (worship). We should not look at Dua as something insignificant. 

The Daleel for this is the following hadeeth:

عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏ الدُّعَاءُ هُوَ الْعِبَادَةُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ ‏:‏ ‏(‏وقالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ )     ‏    ‏

An-Nu`man bin Bashir narrated that the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم  said: “The supplication is worship.” Then he recited: And Your Lord said: “Call upon me, I will respond to you…."

What is the Highest Level of Eemaan?

Question #21: 

٢١) ما أعلى شُعَبِ الايمان؟

     أعْلاَها قَوْلُ: لا اِله إلاَّ الله                            

A) The Highest level of Eemaan is the statement  لا اِله إلاَّ الله.        

                 

This statement لا اِله إلاَّ الله is called ‘Kalimatut-Tawheed’ (statement of Tawheed). The daleel is the hadeeth that comes in the Hadeeth of Abi Huraira رضي اللّه عنـه recorded in Bukhari and Muslim. 

It is also the greatest of things that is obligatory upon us, i.e. to know Kalimatut-Tawheed. It is the last obligation upon us to know and because of this the Prophet صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم said:

“Advise the dying person to say   لا اِله إلاَّ الله (there is none worthy of worship in truth except Allaah). It is narrated on the authority of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri رضي اللّه عنـه that the Prophet صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم said: "Prompt your dying people to say: لا اِله إلاَّ الله."

Question #18:  

 مَا هُوَ الدِّينُ الَّذِي لاَ يَقْبَلُ اللهُ غَيْرَهُ؟

What is the religion that  Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى will not accept other than it?

Answer:

   Islaam  -  هُو: الإسلام     

Daleel is in Surah Aali Imran where Allaah  سبحانه وتعالىsays:

وَمَن يَبْتَغِ غَيْرَ الإِسْلاَمِ دِينًا فَلَن يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُ

'And whoever seeks a religion other than Islâm, it will never be accepted of him..'

(Aali Imran 3:85)

The meaning is :

Whoever seeks another way of life, another religion, other than the religion that Allaah سبحانه وتعالى is pleased with, which is al-Islaam, then Allaah  سبحانه وتعالىwill NOT accept this from him and this is in Mukhtasar fi Tafseer.

Imâm as Sa'dee رحمه الله further mentions that whoever requests for another religion other than what Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى is pleased with, then know that whatever action he does is rejected and will NOT be accepted.
