Heresy & Hypocrisy [the company you keep]

It is reported that Al-Fudayl b. ‘Ayyâd (rahimahullaah) said:

 

"Verily, Allâh has angels who seek out the circles of remembrance [of Allâh], so be careful who you sit with; make sure it is NOT with an adherent of bid’ah, for Allâh does not look at them. And the sign of nifâq (hypocrisy in faith) is that a man mingles with an adherent of bid’ah."

Knowing a Man by His Moves

It is reported that Al-A’mash (rahimahullaah) said:

They (the Salaf) never used to ask about [the religious condition of] a man after knowing three things about him: where & upon whom he entered, where & with whom he walked, & the close company he kept.

Meaning: Knowing these things about a man is more than sufficient for knowing whether he is following the right path on the Sunnah or not.

Four Signs of the W-r-e-t-c-h-e-d

It is reported that Al-Hasan Al-Basrî  (rahimahullaah) said:

 

Four signs of wretchedness are: [having] a hard heart, dry eyes [that never cry], extended hopes [about this life], & greed & keenness to amass worldly things (the dunyâ).

Repelling Evil With Good

There are two important lessons to learn from the saying of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) :

 

“A believing man (husband) should not hate a believing woman (wife): if he dislikes one character in her, he will like another one.”

All men have Eyes!”

“This world is like a shadow: run after it & you will never be able to catch it; turn your back against it & it has no choice but to follow you…”

Parable of Spending in Allaah’s Cause

Allaah   (سُبحانه وتعالى)  says:

 

مَّثَلُ الَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللّهِ كَمَثَلِ حَبَّةٍ أَنبَتَتْ سَبْعَ سَنَابِلَ فِي كُلِّ سُنبُلَةٍ مِّئَةُ حَبَّةٍ وَاللّهُ يُضَاعِفُ لِمَن يَشَاء وَاللّهُ وَاسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ

 “The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allâh, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, & each ear has a hundred grains. Allâh gives manifold increase to whom He pleases. And Allâh is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knower.”

(Al-Baqarah 2:261)

Upon the Authority of Abu Huraira (radiyallaahu ‘anhu) who said: 

The Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم)   said:

“No one gives Sadaqah from that which is good – & Allaah only accepts that which is good – except that Ar Rahmaan (The Most Beneficent) takes it with his right hand, even if it is a date. It is then nurtured in the hand of Ar Rahmaan until it becomes greater than a mountain. Just as one of you would nurture his colt or his young (weaned) Camel“

Two angels descend every morning & say...

Abu Hurayrah (radi Allaahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said,

“Two angels descend every morning, & one says: ‘O Allaah, give him who spends something, in place of what he spends.’ The other one says: ‘O Allaah, give destruction to him who withholds.”
