Would you like to be a Key to Good?

 

In the Name of Allaah, the Beneficent, Most Merciful. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions. As for what follows:

The Messenger of Allaah, may peace and blessings be upon him, said:

‎”Verily amongst the people are those who are keys to good ‎and locks to evil. And amongst the people are those who ‎are keys to evil and locks to good. So Toobaa‎ [1] for the ‎one whom Allaah has placed the keys of good upon his hands and woe be to the one ‎whom Allaah has placed the keys of evil at his disposal.” ‎[Sunan Ibn Maajah #237, Ibn Abi 'Aasim in "As-Sunnah" #297, Musnad At-Tayaalisi #2082, Al-Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Eemaan #698, and Al-Albani delcared it good in As-Saheehah #1332]

Sheikh ‘Abdur Razaaq bin ‘Abdul Muhsin Al-’Abbaad, may Allaah preserve them both, said:

“From the ways to be a key to good is by supplication.”

The Fruits of Patience

Discontentment is a trait of an impatient individual whose very own intolerant disposition prevents them from receiving rewards from Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى. Moreover, their sinful behavior leads them to being overwhelmed by their difficulties. Consequently, they are besieged by two afflictions: problems in their religion caused by their unhappiness and the weight of the hardship that befell them in the first place.

To the contrary, the truly patient believer controls him or herself at the onset of their difficulty. Yes, they do not like that this calamity has happened to them, but they patiently control themselves. He or she refrains from uttering anything or doing anything that would anger Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى. Nor does this believer harbor ill-feelings in their heart towards the Most Wise. In spite of their trials and mishaps, this person is patient. The contented one is at ease and totally calm during their adversity as though nothing has occurred.

Is The Du’a of The Traveler Accepted?

Ash-Sheikh al-Uthaimeen, (may Allaah have mercy upon him) said :

“Traveling is from the reasons why the du’a is answered and the viewpoint of this is that several ahadeeth have been narrated regarding that the du’a of the traveler will not be rejected, hence the Messenger صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم brought mentioning of the word ’traveling’ which indicates that traveling has a great affect upon the supplication being answered and especially if it is a long journey and distant from the home, for indeed the person’s heart will become stronger in faith and reliance upon Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى.”

The mother is the first school !

Sheikh Ahmed an-Najmi (Hafidhahullaah): 

"The mother is the first school. If she is righteous, the progeny becomes righteous." 

(Bi'ithnillaahi)

The Best Act of Worship: Humility

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: " يَغْفُلُونَ عَنْ أَفْضَلِ الْعِبَادَةِ: التَّوَاضُعِ "

Aisha رضي الله عنها said:

"People are paying no attention to the best act of worship: Humility."

(Collected by Ibn Abee Shaybah (13/360) Ibn Hajr graded this Athar as being Saheeh.)

Benefits for this subject:

At-Tabari (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: 

"Allaah tests His believing servants with humility to see how they obey Him and follow His commands." 

[Saheeh Bukhari Ibn Battal]

Shaykh Abdur Rahman As-Sa'dee (May Allaah rest him in Jannah) said,

 "Humility and Humbleness are among the foundations of the religion and its core whereas, pride contradicts Islaam.”

The origin of humility is found in the verse: (سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا) (We hear and obey) [Al-Baqarah:285]. This means we hear what you have said our Lord in the Qur’aan and what Your Messenger has said.

Love and hate for the sake of Allaah

Ash-Shaykhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله) said in his essay on Al-Uboodiyyah:

The true ‘abd however, is the one who is pleased with what pleases Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى and His Messenger; who has hatred for what Allaah and His Messenger صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم hate; offers walaa’ to the awaliyaa’ of Allaah and holds enmity towards the enemies of Allaah. This is the person who has fulfilled emaan as in the hadeeth:

“Whoever loves for Allaah, hates for Allaah, gives for Allaah and denies for Allaah has fulfilled emaan.”¹

He (صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم) also said:

“The firmest bond of emaan is love for Allaah and hate for Allaah.”²

Beware if Allaah showers you with blessings whilst you disobey Him..

Ibnul-Qayyim (Rahimahullah) said: 

"Some of the Salaf used to say, ´Beware if Allaah showers you with blessings whilst you disobey Him. He intends to punish you.”
