Al-Haafidh Ibn Hajr Al-Asqalaane
“The heart has been singled out for this because it is the leader of the body, and through the purification of the leader the subjects become purified, and with his corruption they become corrupted. So if you, O’ servant of Allaah, wish to cure your heart, then it is upon you to be truthful with regards to seeking refuge with Allaah and putting your trust in Him, to pray a great deal of supererogatory prayers, to perform the actions of obedience to Allaah frequently, to pray the night prayer while the people are sleeping, and to treat your heart by making it continuously stick to the remembrances, and by befriending only the righteous … and to frequently recite the Qur’aan, and
".Allaah will allow all of this to be preserved by him

And they thought wrongly of Allaah – the thought of ignorance..
~ Surah Aal ‘Imraan, (3:154)

“Ibnul-Qayyim
رحمه الله said: ‘Most people have ill thoughts of Allaah with regard to what pertains to them and what He does with other than them. So whoever despairs of His Mercy, then he has thought ill of Him; and whoever thinks that if he leaves something for His Sake, He will not replace it with better than it – or one who does something for His Sake, that He won’t give him better than it – then he has thought ill of Him; and whoever thinks that if he sincerely hopes in and fears Him, and humbles himself before Him and implores Him, and asks Him and seeks His help and puts his trust in Him, that He will disappoint him, then he has thought ill of Him.’”

Siwaak
** (The Siwaak which is sometimes called the 'Miswak' is a cleaning tool taken from the Arak tree.)

Abi Huraira (recorded in Ahmed/Maalik) that the Prophet صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم said:

"If it wasn't to cause difficulty to my nation I would have ordered them to use the Siwaak for every ablution."
[Saheeh Al-Jaami' (5319), Sheikh Albaani رحمه الله said it is saheeh].

Imaam Nawai mentions in Saheeh Muslim that, “the siwaak is Sunnah (Mustahab: Highly recommended) and Not Waajib.”
