Reflecting upon the Qur’aan

Ibnul Qayyim رحمه الله said:

Praise be to the One Who made His Speech (Qu’raan) a source of life for the hearts and a cure for what is within the chests. In general, there is nothing more beneficial for the heart than the recitation of Qur’aan with reflection and pondering upon it with deep thought. It also comprehensively places together the (different) levels of the traveler (in this worldly life), the condition of the one who implements it, along with the status of the one who possesses knowledge. From it (the Qur’aan,) the following are inherited:

* Love
* Yearning
* Fear
* Hope
* Returning to Allaah (in repentance)

The correct way to underlining a Word

Sheikh Albaani (رحمه الله) said:

"Indeed, placing a line above the word in order to give notice to it is the way of our scholars in coinciding with the way of the scholars of Hadith. As for underlining the word, then this is (considered) to be from the ways of the Europeans (i.e. the kuffâr) and we have been commanded to oppose them."

The Prophet صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم said:

“Purify these bodies, may Allaah purify you, for there is no servant who spends the night in a state of purification except that an angel spends the night with him, in the garment which is closest to his body*, [and] he does not turn over at any time during the night except that the angel says, “O Allaah! Forgive Your slave for he went to sleep in a state of purification.”

The student of knowledge constantly monitors his intention in all his actions

Image result for student of knowledge

With regards to the student of knowledge never ceasing to watch carefully over his niyyah when doing good deeds, the Sheikh Saalih al Fawzaan  حفظه الله mentions after quoting the hadeeth of the first people to be judged on the Day of Resurrection and that they will be cast into the Hell-Fire due to the corrupt intention behind their good deeds: 1

So this (hadeeth) is from that which emphasizes to the Muslim that he must make his intention purely and sincerely for Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic, whenever he establishes any act from the good deeds, such as prayer and fasting and the Hajj and ‘Umrah, and giving charity, and the seeking of knowledge and teaching it, and enjoining the good and forbidding the evil, and calling to Allaah, the Mighty and Majestic – and other than that.

Therefore, it is befitting that he constantly watch over his intention and that he try to remember his intention in every action he does, in that he makes it purely and sincerely for Allaah and that he drives away ar Riyaa - (doing good deeds for show) from himself. (This is) because the person is a human being, and there occurs to him (the temptations of) showing off and love of being acclaimed and love of being praised.

What ash-Sheikh al-Albaani said about himself after he turned 84 years..

In Saheeh Mawaarid al-Dhamaan (2087) – The hadeeth of Abu Hurayrah (رضي اللّه عنـه) who said, “The Messenger of Allaah (صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم) said, “The lifespan of (the people from) my Ummah is between sixty to seventy years and few will go beyond that.”  Ibn ‘Arafah said, “And I am from those few.”

So the Sheikh (رحمه الله) commented by saying:

I say: I am also from amongst those few, since I have passed eighty four. I ask the Lord, the One free from all imperfections and the Most High, to make me amongst those whose life span is prolonged and their actions are beautified.

But even then, sometimes I nearly wish for death due to what has afflicted the Muslims from deviations in their deen, and the humiliation that has befallen them from the lowest of mankind. But Allaah forbid, and the hadeeth of Anas is before me. So it is not suitable for me to say anything except that which my Prophet (صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم) has ordered me with, “O Allaah keep me alive as long as life is good for me and take my life if that is good for me.”

And I supplicate with that which my Prophet (صلّى اللَّهُ عليه وسلّم) has taught me, “O Allaah provide us with the provision of our hearing, and our sight, and our strength as long as we are alive and make it a legacy from us.”

Matrimony At An Early Age And Its Benefits – By Sheikh Saleh al Fawzaan

As for the saying that, getting married at an early age diverts from gaining knowledge and from studying, this is not the case. Rather, the opposite of this is correct because tranquility, peace of mind, and pleasure never cease to be obtained through marriage. These things help the student to reach his goal because, he has peace of mind, and his thoughts are not cluttered due to discomfort and this helps him study.

Now on the other hand abstaining from marriage in reality blocks whatever knowledge he wants to attain, because it is not possible to acquire knowledge in a state of confusion and anxiety. However, if he gets married, his mind is at rest and his soul is at ease. He gets a house to take as a shelter and a wife who relaxes and helps him. These things help him to attain knowledge.
