The Believer speaks little & does a lot...

Al-Fudayl b. ‘Ayyâd (rahimahullaah) reported:

 

The believer speaks little & does a lot, whereas the hypocrite (Munâfiq) speaks a lot & does little. When the believer speaks, it is with wisdom, when he is silent, it is in deep thought, when he sees, he takes lessons, & when he acts, it is a cure. If this is the way you are, then you are in the constant worship [of your Lord.]

Reality of People...

Malik ibn Dinar (rahimahullaah) said:

 

 

'Since I have known (the reality of) people, I have not taken delight in their praise nor have I hated their criticism.' It was said to him, 'Why is that?' He said, 'The one who praises from amongst them is excessive & the critic from amongst them exaggerates!'

Not permissible to WASTE an hour of my Life…

Ibn ‘Aqeel al-Hanbali (rahimahullaah) said of himself:

 

It is not permissible for me to waste an hour of my life. When I stop discussing issues of knowledge & debating them (with others) & when I stop reading in a book, I would start pondering & thinking when I am resting & lying down, & before I get up, I will have already an idea that I should write down & I am very keen to increase my knowledge now I am in my eighties & more keen than when I was twenty years old.

Know the value of what was lost

Ibn Al-Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said:

 

"Know the value of what was lost, & cry like someone who knows the value of what has passed him by."

Whoever proposed to the world...

Mâlik ibn Dînâr (rahimahullâh) said: 

 

“Whoever proposed to the world, then the world would not be satisfied until he gave up his Deen as dowry.”

Dealing with optional acts of worship..

Abu Al-Hasan Ali bin Ahmad said:

 

“Deal with optional acts of worship as if they are obligatory, & acts of disobedience as if they are Kufr (disbelief), & your desires as if they are poison, & socializing with the people as if it were fire, & nurturing of your soul as if it were medicine.”

“Kind words & forgiving of faults are better than Sadaqah (charity) followed by injury.

Homeless & Senseless

It is reported that 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud (Allaah be pleased with him) said:

This world (the dunya) is [only taken as] a home by those who will have no real home [in Jannah], & it is the wealth of those who will have no real wealth, & it is gathered & collected for by those who have no real intelligence.

[Ibn Abi Al-Dunya, Dhamm Al-Dunya article 16.]

A poet once truthfully said:

فمرورها مر السحاب

 

 

العمر أقصر مدة  **  من أن يضيع في الحساب

فاغتنموا ساعاته  **    فمرورها مر السحاب

“One’s age is too short, to be wasted on worldly acquisition.

So benefit greatly from its hours, since its passing is like the passing of clouds.”
