"...forgive him..."

 

Narrated Abi Hurairah (radhiyallaahu 'anhu): Allaah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, 

"A man used to give loans to the people and used to say to his servant, 'If the debtor is poor, forgive him, so that Allaah may forgive us.' So when he met Allaah (after his death), Allaah forgave him."

Bukhaari Vol. #4, Book #56/687

“Do not ever get bored of asking for forgiveness.”

Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali (rahimahullaah) said:

It was said to al-Hasan al-Basri: “Shouldn’t one of us feel too shy before his Lord to ask for forgiveness of his sins then do them again, then ask for forgiveness then do them again? He said: The shaytaan would love to gain victory over you in this manner. Do not ever get bored of asking for forgiveness.”

Sadness over Sins & Heedlessness

 

“Know that the heart of a person of sound mind cannot be free of sadness, because he remembers his previous sins, therefore becomes sad, he thinks about his negligence, reflects on what the scholars & the righteous have said, as a result he becomes sad for not taking heed.”

"Taqwa" is the provision for every journey..

‘Umar bin Abdul-Aziz (rahimahullaah) said in a speech he gave:

“There is a provision for every journey, so take the best provision, (which is) At-Taqwa; from this life to the Hereafter. Be just like those who have just witnessed Allaah’s torment, so that you feel fear (from His torment) & eagerness (for His forgiveness). Do not have prolonged hopes because your hearts will become hardened & you will submit to your enemy (shaytaan). 

Ikhlaas & Tawheed are a Tree in the Heart

 

“Ikhlaas & Tawheed are a tree in the heart. Its branches are good actions. Its fruits are a good life in this world, & eternal comfort in the Hereafter, & just like in Paradise the fruits whose supply is not cut off, nor are they out of reach, likewise are the fruits of Tawheed & Ikhlaas in this world.”

Perspective on Dunya & Aakhira

Ḥasan al-Baṣrī once sat next to an empty grave & said:

“A matter (ie. life) that ends like this deserves to feel disinterest about its beginning.  A matter that starts like this (ie. death) deserves that its end is feared (ie. the Hereafter).”

Indifference of Strangers to Dunya

“In this world the believer is like a stranger, he does not despair when it humiliates him & neither does he covet its grandeur.  The people are in one state, & he is in a totally different state.”

Be Mindful of Allaah’s Anger In Three affairs!

Sufyaan Ath-Thawree (rahimahullaah) said:

Be mindful of Allaah’s Anger in three affairs:

“Be mindful of falling short in that which you have been commanded; Be mindful that He sees you, whilst you are not pleased with what He has portioned for you (of the Dunya); Be mindful that you seek for something from the worldly life and do not find it, so you become angry with your Lord.”

"Hope" is More Suitable at Death
