White lies vs. Black lies

Sheikh Saleh al-Fawzan (hafithahuAllaah)

Question: The questioner asks O Shaykh; is there such thing as white lies and black lies?

Sheikh Fawzan: All lies are black, there are no white lies; all of them are black and they are not permissible. Except in the three situations mentioned by the Prophet, prayers and peace are upon him: Lying in order to make peace between people who have had a falling out; or the spouses lying to each other in an effort to mend the relationship; or lying in an effort to escape the oppressor, in order to escape from the oppressor. And this is called: Interpretation. Outside of this, lying is haraam; all of them. And lying is from the Major Sins and it is NOT permissible.

                             Imaam Abdur Rahman As-Sa’dee (rahimahuAllaah)

“And We will surely test you with something of fear, hunger, and loss of wealth, lives, and fruits…But, give glad tidings to the patient. Those who, when they are afflicted by a calamity say: ‘Indeed we belong to Allaah, and indeed to Him we will return.’ Those are the ones upon whom are Salawaat from their Lord, and they receive His mercy. And it is those who are the rightly guided.”
 [al-Baqarah: 155-157]

Allaah informs us that His slaves must be tested with trials, in order to manifest and differentiate between those who are truthful and those who are liars, between those who are patient and those who are impatient. This is the way Allaah deals with His slaves, because if the people of faith (Imaan) were not tested and they were left to remain in good times and happiness there would be confusion which is corruption. However, the wisdom of Allaah necessitates differentiating the good people from the evil people. This is the lesson and benefit of trials. So these trials are not to lose the Imaan of the believers, nor to turn them away from their religion. Never would Allaah cause the believers to lose there Imaan.

These calamities, tests, and trials MUST occur, as The All-Knower, All- Acquainted has informed us. And just as He informed us, they happen. Whenever they befall, people are divided into two categories:

GOOD NEWS! New Book of Sheikh Muhammad Bin Hizam in English [2 Attachments]

Bismillahir-Rahmaanirraheem

This book is a call to the non-Muslims to the path of Islaam. It consists of two parts: The first contains ‘virtues of Islaam and the call to it’, and the second ‘the means to accept and hold fast to Islaam.’ (Currently only the first half of the book has been translated.) Two versions of the book are posted: one with the text of the Qur'aan and Hadeeth in Arabic and the other without the Arabic text.

Shaykh (hafidahullaah) has requested that this book be posted on the internet in all the general websites possible so that it may reach many non-muslims.
