Interview with the wife of Sheikh Uthaimeen رحمه الله

Animated wallpaper, screensaver 240x320 for cellphone

The following article is a transcribed interview conducted with Umm ‘Abdillaah, wife of Sheikh ibn ‘Uthaymeen رحمه الله.

Question 1: Was there any change in the motivation of the Sheikh regarding ‘ilm (knowledge), da’wah, and worship between his youth and his elder years?

Answer: I did not find any diminishing or weakness in his motivation in knowledge, da’wah, and worship despite his advancing age. On the contrary, his busy schedule continued to increase with time, as was the case with his worship and call, to the extent that during his intense illness, he was not negligent with one moment; he would spend every second in the remembrance of Allaah (
سُبحانه وتعالى), worshiping Him, teaching, or directing.

Question 2: What did you see that was amazing in the Sheikh’s life?

Answer: His life was an example to follow, especially his patience and motivation to seek the knowledge as well as teach and disseminate it. Also, his piety was something that those who were not close to him may not have known about.

The Condition of the Salaf in Ramadhan - Sheikh Saeh al-Fawzaan

Animated avatar 100x100

The condition of the Salaf, as it is recorded in the narrated books with chains of narrations from the trustworthy people (narrating) from them is that they would ask Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى to make them reach Ramadhan before it entered; they would ask Allaah to make them reach the month of Ramadhan due to what they knew that it contained from abundant good and general benefit. Then, when Ramadhan entered, they would ask Allaah to aid them upon righteous actions therein. The when Ramadhan ended they would ask Allaah to accept it from them. As Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى says:

وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَا آتَوا وَّقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ أَنَّهُمْ إِلَى رَبِّهِمْ رَاجِعُونَ

"And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms and charities, etc., have been accepted or not), because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning)."
(Al-Mu'minun 23:60)

The heart that is alive & contains a portion of faith, Shaytaan attacks it…

 By Sheikh Saalih al-Uthaymeen

Thoughts and whispers that contradict the religion do not frequent the dead heart, on account of its being lifeless and a destroyed organ. Shaytaan does not want more than with what he is charged. For that reason, it was said to Ibn Mas’ud (رضي اللّه عنـه) or Ibn Abbas (رضي اللّه عنـه) that the Jews say: “They do not get any whispers while they pray.” In other words uneasiness does not afflict them. He said: “They have spoken the truth and what can Shaytaan do with a heart that is already ruined.”

Exercising Patience - Ibnul Qayyim al-Jawziyyah

Animated wallpaper, screensaver 240x320 for cellphoneEvery person has to exercise patience in order to face difficulties, whether he does so willingly or unwillingly. The noble person exercises patience willingly, because he realizes the benefits of patience, and he knows that he will be rewarded for his patience and will be criticized if he panics. He is aware that if he does not have patience, panicking and impatience will not help him to regain missed opportunities, and will NOT  take away things he dislikes. Whatever is decreed and is qada’ wa qadr cannot be prevented from happening, and whatever is decreed not to happen cannot be made to happen. So an attitude of impatience and panic actually causes harm.

A wise man said: “A man with wisdom as soon as adversity appears does that which a foolish man does after a month (i.e. he resorts to patience).
