Haafidh
al-Hakami [d. 1377 AH] (1), may Allaah have mercy on him, said:
“Know that Allaah,
the Lofty and High, has not left the creation without a purpose.” (2)
Allaah, the Most
High, says in His Book:
“Did you think that We had created you
in play (without any purpose), and that you would not be brought back to Us?” (3)
‘Do you think that we created you for
play, without any aim, intent or wisdom? Some say that the verse means: Do you
think you were created for play and to wander aimlessly like animals, with no
reward and no punishment?’
Furthermore, His, the
Most High, statement:
‘and that you would not be brought back
to Us,’
means: [Do you think]
that you would not return to us in the afterlife? No. The affair is not like
that. We have only created you for the purpose of worship and carrying out
the commands of Allaah, the Lofty and High. Then, we will resurrect you for
a day about which there is no doubt.
[On that day], we
will reward every one for their efforts. If those efforts were good, the reward
will be good, and if they were evil, the reward will be evil… (4)
