“But I Don’t Have Time for the Qur'aan..!"

Ibn ʿAbbas رضي اللّه عنـه said,

"What prevents any of you, when you return from the market or from fulfilling your duties and you recline on your bed, from reciting three verses of the Qurʾān?!"

[Sunan ad-Dārmī]

How to rectify your heart....??

If you want to rectify your heart, or want to see betterment in your child or companion—or whoever it is for that matter, then direct them to places where the Qurʾān is recited and direct them to be in the company of the Qurʾān. Allāh will then cause them to become better, whether they are willing to it or not.

The Mannerisms & Characteristics of those who uphold the Qur'aan - 2

By: Umm Hyatt al-Ameriki حفظها الله

We are in Shahrur Ramadhan, the month of Shahrul Qur'aan, the month of seeking forgiveness and seeking pardon from Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى, we are in the month of striving and a month which is considered a great opportunity... The Muslim in general worships Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى every single day and night as this is the life of a believer but Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى has made this particular month the BEST month of the year -- the month the Noble  Qur'aan was revealed. This month is an opportunity for all as opposed to Hajj and Umrah are specific for those who have the capability to perform. But this Shahru Mubarak (the month full of blessings) is a month that everyone participates in (some way or the other) even if they are excused from fasting. Let us not waste this opportunity to return to Allaah in obedience, to ponder and reflect! Time is precious!! We should not waste time in that which does not benefit. When the time of death and the Day of Judgement arrives, (and it is a must for everyone) -- we will regret the time we have lost!

Today's session:
We continue with the first chapter: "The Merits of the recitation of the Qur'aan."

Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى mentions in His Noble Qur'aan:

الَّذِينَ آتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ يَتْلُونَهُ حَقَّ تِلاَوَتِهِ
"Those to whom We gave the Book, recite it as it should be recited)..."
(Al-Baqarah 2:121)

-- the word is  تِلاَوَتِهِ  - (they recite 'the true recitation' it as it should be recited).
آجُرِّي - Aajjurri mentioned the statement of Mujaahid concerning the tafseer of this verse: يَتْلُونَهُ حَقَّ تِلاَوَتِهِ that he recites it the way it should be recited - (which means they act according to the Book of Allaah). It does not mean mere recitation of the tongue, rather what it means is as what Ibn Qayyim (رحمه الله) mentioned with regards to the ayah in Surah al-Fatir:

The Mannerisms & Characteristics of those who uphold the Qur'aan - 1

Image result for student of ilm

Alhamdulillaah we thank Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى for blessing us with yet another Ramadhan, and we seek His aid in pleasing Him and to make the best of it as we do not know if we will be blessed to meet another Ramadhan. We should strive hard in this blessed month -- the month of serenity and piety wherein is all khair (good). Due to the Mercy of Allaah سُبحانه وتعالى upon us, the Major Kuffaar Shayateen (Al-Maradah) have been tied/chained up enabling us to worship and please Him easily compared to other months. Therefore, no one has an excuse to strive harder and work harder in this particular month. Entering into this month one feels more self control than they did before Ramadhan and everyone will attest to this.

The topic of study will inshaAllaah be:

*    آدَب و أَخَلَاق حَمَلَةِ القَرْان
Aadâb wal Akhlâq Hamalatul Qur'aan - (The particular Characteristics & Mannerisms of those who adhere to the Qur'aan should have)

*      Some of the books we will be benefiting from are:
تِبْيَان - إمَام النَّوَوِي
Tibyaan from Imaam an-Nawawi رحمه الله.

Umm Hyatt mentioned that she studied this book under Sheikha Umm Abdillaah al-Waadi'iyya (may Allaah preserve her), who had gathered its Fawaaid (benefits) into a book in Dammaj.

*      We will also be benefiting from:
آجُرِّي
Aajjurri - He is from the Salaf. He lived in the year 300's and he is one of the first Ulema who wrote about this particular topic.

*      Also we will benefit from the likes of:
حِلْيَةُ الطَّالِبِ العِلْم - زَيْد بَكَر أَبُو شيخ
Hilyatut-Taalibul Ilm - by Sheikh Abu Bakr Zaid and Sheikh Uthaimeen who did a Sharh (Explanation of this book) which is a book which is familiar to many of us.

Ad-Darani mentioned that Al Hasan Al Basri رحمه الله said:

'The student of knowledge was known for his character, good manners and righteous deeds more than for his knowledge.'

The virtues of Qur'aan

Image result for Quran

Narrated Zaid bin Thabit:

Abu Bakr As-Siddiq sent for me when the people of Yamama had been killed (i.e., a number of the Prophet’s Companions who fought against Musailama).

(I went to him) and found ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab sitting with him. Abu Bakr then said (to me), “Umar has come to me and said: “Casualties were heavy among the Qurra’ of the! Qur'aan (i.e. those who knew the Quran by heart) on the day of the Battle of Yalmama, and I am afraid that more heavy casualties may take place among the Qurra’ on other battlefields, whereby a large part of the Qur'aan may be lost. Therefore I suggest, you (Abu Bakr) order that the Qur'aan be collected.”

I said to ‘Umar, “How can you do something which Allaah’s Apostle did not do?

‘Umar said, “By Allaah, that is a good project. “Umar kept on urging me to accept his proposal till Allaah opened my chest for it and I began to realize the good in the idea which ‘Umar had realized.”

Then Abu Bakr said (to me). ‘You are a wise young man and we do not have any suspicion about you, and you used to write the Divine Inspiration for Allaah’s Apostle. So you should search for (the fragmentary scripts of) the Qur'aan and collect it in one book).”

By Allaah If they had ordered me to shift one of the mountains, it would not have been heavier for me than this ordering me to collect the Qur'aan.

Then I said to Abu Bakr, “How will you do something which Allaah’s Apostle did not do?

Have you recited the Qur'aan today?

Imaam an-Nawawi رحمه الله said:
Reciting the Qur'aan is the most important of adhkar, which should be done regularly. No day or night should be without reciting and it may be attained by reciting a few verses.
[كتبا الأذكـار للنـووي ١٢٢٥/٢]

Ibn Jawzi رحمه الله said:
The one who has a Mushaf must recite it every day of whatever is easy for him, lest he be from those who have forsaken the Qur’aan.“

For surely hardness of the heart has a cure ....

Image result for Quran

For surely hardness of the heart has a cure and its cure is by abundantly reciting the Qur’aan. The evidence for this is the statement of Allaah,

“Had We sent down this Qur’aan on a mountain, you would surely have seen it humbling itself and rend asunder by the fear of Allaah…”
[al-Hashr: 21]

A mountain is a firm rock that if the Qur’aan were to descend upon then it would become humble and break. The same goes for the heart, when the Qur’aan is recited while pondering over its meanings with deep contemplation then there is no doubt that it will affect the heart. Listen to the statement of Allaah,

إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَذِكْرَى لِمَنْ كَانَ لَهُ قَلْبٌ أَوْ أَلْقَى السَّمْعَ وَهُوَ شَهِيدٌ
Verily, therein (the Qur’aan) is indeed a reminder for him who has a heart or gives ear while he is heedful.”

At least complete the recitation of the Qur'aan every month… !

Image result for quran

Explained by Sheikh Saleh al Fawzaan  حفظه الله

If a month passes by and the Qur’aan has not been completed, then this is neglect!!

Allaah سبحانه و تعالى sent down this Qur’aan to be recited and implemented. He did not send it down for it to be placed in books and Mushafs and  for it to be preserved on shelves and cupboards. Rather, it is to be recited night and day. A Muslim recites it in every available situation and the Scholars have stated….

The Companions, (may Allaah be pleased with them), used to portion out the Qur’aan. They used to set a portion (to recite) during the night and during the night prayer. Some of them would complete reciting it in three nights, others in seven and ten nights.

Wipe the dust off your Mushaf & let's start reciting!

Reading the Qur'aan during Ramadaan - (Extracts of the article)
'Abdullaah bin Saalih Al-Fawzaan

Let's turn our attention to the Qur’aan this blessed month.

شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِيَ أُنزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ
The month of Ramadhan is that in which the Qur’aan was revealed…”

Abu Umaamah (radiAllaahu 'anhu) reported that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:

"Recite the Qur'aan for indeed it will come on the Day of Judgement as an intercessor for its Ashaab (those who read, memorize & implement it)." (1)

Indeed, this Qur'aan is the banquet of Allaah...

Ibn Mas'ud رضي اللّه عنـه used to say:

"Indeed, this Qur'aan is the banquet of Allaah; so take from it as much as you can [i.e. learn from it] for I know nothing more unworthy than a house in which there is nothing of the word of Allaah. The heart which contains nothing of the word of Allaah, goes to ruin like a house in which no one lives." - al-Darimi

“No one tires of it…”

Allaah ruins him who deserts this Book (the Qur’aan) out of fear of persecution of the tyrants, allows him to go astray he who seeks guidance from a source other than the Qur’aan. The Noble Qur’aan is the Strong Rope of Allaah, the Wise Admonition and the Straight Path.

It is a Book that no one’s fancy can twist and no tongue can change. Unlike other books, nobody tires of it despite its repeated recitation. Its wonders will never exhaust and scholars will never feel satiated with it.

One who talks in the light of this Book will be true. One who acts upon it will be rewarded. One who makes judgments in its light will make just judgments. And the one who summons mankind to it, guides them to the Straight Path.

The content of the Qur'aan

Fond d'écran animé, screensaver 240x320 pour téléphone portable

By Ibnul Qayyim (Rahimahullaah)

"If we look closely at the words of the Qur'aan, we will find a Sovereign, to whom belongs all Dominion & all praise & thanks are Due to Him, all affairs are in His grasp, & He is the source & the end of all affairs. He rose over His throne, & no secret of His kingdom shall ever be hidden from Him, as He is the Knower of the servant's souls. He alone is the Planner of the Kingdom’s affairs. He hears, sees, grants, averts rewards, punishes honors, abases, creates, gives, & takes life, provides estimates, judges, & conducts the affairs of man. The decrees, whether minor or major, descend & ascend by His permission. Nothing can move, even equal to the weight of an atom, except by His permission; not a leaf falls, but He knows it.

Cell Phone VS. Qur'aan

         VS.

Ever wonder what would happen if we treated our Qur'aan like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried  it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we flipped  through it several time a day?
What if we turned  back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we used it  to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated  it like we couldn't live without it?
What if we gave it  to kids as gifts?
What if we used it  when we traveled?
What if we used it  in case of emergency?

This is something  to make you go....hmm... where is my Qur'aan?
 Oh, and one more  thing...

Unlike our cell  phone, we don't have to worry about our Qur'aan being disconnected !!
