How do we smack children to make them pray?

Abu Dawood (459) and Ahmad (6650) narrated from ‘Amr ibn Shu’ayb from his father that his grandfather said: The Messenger of Allaah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:

“Teach your children to pray when they are seven years old, and smack them (lightly) if they do not pray when they are 10 years old, and separate them in their beds.”
Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Irwa’ (247).

Ibn Qudaamah (may Allaah have mercy upon him) said in al-Mughni (1/357):
This telling and discipline is prescribed in the case of children in order to train them to pray, so that they will be used to it and it will become their habit, and they will not forsake it when they reach puberty.”

The ruling on the Aqeeqah of the Newborn Child

Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-`Uthaymeen

Question: What is the meaning of 'Aqeeqah of the newborn child', and is it Fardh (obligatory) or Sunnah (supererogatory)?

Answer: The Aqeeqah of the newborn child is the sacrificial animal that is slaughtered in seeking nearness to Allaah & thanking Him for the blessing of the newborn child on the 7th day after birth. The people of knowledge have differed over whether it is Sunnah or Fardh. Most of the people of knowledge hold the view that it is Sunnat Muâkkadah (compulsory). Even Imaam Ahmad said, he borrows & performs the Aqeeqah sacrifice. Meaning that the person who does not have any money should borrow the money & perform the Aqeeqah, & Allaah will take care of his debt for him because he revived a Sunnah.

DON’T’s for better Al-Ikhlaas (sincerity)

لاَ تَعْمَلْ للِنَّاسِ شَيْئاً
Don't do anything for the sake of people!

وَ لاَ تَتْرُكْ لَهُمْ شَيْئاً
And don't stop doing things because of them!

وَ لاَ تُغَطِّ لَهُمْ شَيْئاً
And don't hide anything from them!

وَ لاَ تَكْشِفْ لَهُمْ شَيْئاً
And don't reveal anything to them!

From the Abandoned Sunnan: Using the Siwaak when entering the House

• On the authority of ‘Aaisha, may Allaah be pleased with her, said: “When the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم, would enter the house, he would begin with the siwaak.”[1]

• On the authority of al-Miqdaad bin Shurayh on his father who said: “I said to ‘Aaisha, may Allaah be pleased with her, what did the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم used to begin with when he entered his house? She said: “The siwaak.”[2]

• Sheikh ‘Abdul ‘Azeez bin Baaz, may Allaah mercy upon him, was asked:
“I heard that the siwaak is prohibited for the women, is this true?”

“Never under estimate 3 things in Life – I, Me and Myself”...

I, Me and Myself

Ibnul-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (rahimahullaah) mentions in his book Za’ad al-Ma’aad:
It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri & Abu Hurayrah said: The Messenger of Allaah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:Might is His garment & pride is His cloak; whoever seeks to compete with Me concerning them, I will punish him.
(Narrated by Muslim, 2620)

Every Muslim should be warned of the oppression of:  I – My/Mine – I Possess
Indeed these three words are what Iblees (Shaytan), Fir’awn & Qaroon were tried with.
Iblees said: ‘I am better than him’
Fir’awn said: ‘Is not mine the Kingdom of Egypt,’
Qaroon said: ‘This has been given to me only because of knowledge I possess.’
So regarding the saying of the Slave of Allaah I– then the best that he can be described with is:
I am a slave who sins, makes mistakes, seeks forgiveness and recognizes this.
So regarding the saying of ‘My/Mine– and those statements similar to that is:
My sins, my crimes, my humbleness, my depravation and submissiveness.
So regarding the saying of ‘I Possess- then the best that he can be described with is:
Forgive me for my mistakes and what I do intentionally, in jest, or in seriousness and I possess all these shortcomings.

Sheikh Ahmad An-Najmee (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked:

'We have a mu'adhin (one who calls to the prayer) upon whom the people rely on in the adhaan of Maghrib with respect to as soon as the sun starts to set.  Is it upon him to break his fast (first) and then call to the prayer, or should he call to the prayer and then break his fast due to the people relying upon him in that?'

So, he replied:

Giving Precedence to Others Over Yourself in Those Things Which Are Obligatory

Sheikh Uthaimeen, may Allaah have mercy on him, said,

Giving precedence to others over yourself in those things which are obligatory is not allowed. For example, if a person only has enough water for himself with which to perform ablution and there is another person with him who needs water, he is not to give the water to the other person, the other person should do tayammum.  Because this is giving precedence to others over yourself in those things which are obligatory, and giving such precedence to others over yourself is haraam.’

How To Know if You’re Too Ill to Fast

Sheikh Uthaimeen, may Allaah have mercy on him, was asked, “What is the scale/degree of harm according to which a fast becomes harmful for someone who is ill and after which it becomes forbidden?”

He replied, “Indeed, harm is known through feeling & it may be known by being informed of it.  As for knowing it by feel then it is if an ill person feels that the fast is harming him & making his pain worse & delaying his recovery.  And as for [recognizing that] by being informed then it is if a knowledgeable, trustworthy, doctor tells him that [it is harmful], & it is not a condition that the doctor be a Muslim.”

Ibn Baaz on Fasting During a Journey

Shaikh Ibn Baaz, may Allaah have mercy on him, said,

The traveller has the choice of either fasting or not fasting, and what is apparent from the legislated proofs is that not fasting is better especially if the fast is difficult for him, due to the saying of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, “Fasting during a journey is not righteousness.
