Explanation of Al Hasad (envy)

The people of knowledge have differed with regards to the explanation of Al Hasad (envy):

Some of them said: “Desiring the disappearance of the blessing from the other” and others stated that Al Hasad is “Hating/Disliking that which Allaah has bestowed upon other than him. The definition preferred by Shaykh ul-Islaam ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله is, “if the slave dislikes/hates that which Allaah has bestowed upon other than him, then he has envied him, even if he doesn't desire its disappearance.”

A few Benefits from Ash Shaykh Saaed Ibn Da'as رحمه الله

A few benefits written down from Ash Sheikh Saaed Ibn Da'as رحمه الله ‘s explanation of Qawai'd al Muthla (the first tape) -- by Brother  Majid Jawed Al Afghanee:

¬ It is not befitting for a student of knowledge to be ignorant with regards to the Aqeedah especially if he is a caller or a teacher...!!
¬ Don't think that merely relaying speech or tossing it upon those who listen is sufficient with regards to honour for you!!
¬ It is incumbent upon the student of knowledge that he places his concern upon reaching the truth, as it is said that 'little knowledge when accurate contains Barakah and is more beneficial than a lot of knowledge whereub its companions cannot reach the truth!!!

May Allah have Mercy upon Ash Shaykh Saeed Ibn Daa'as & accept him as a Shuhadaa, ameen!

The Five Pillars of Gratitude

Ibnul-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

Gratitude is built upon five pillars: (1) Submissiveness to Allaah from the one expressing gratitude; (2) loving Him for it; (3) acknowledging His favor; (4) praising Him for it; (5) and NOT utilizing it in a way that displeases Him.

(Madaarij As-Saalikeen, 2/186)

Between the Past and the Future

Ibnul-Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah رحمه الله said:

“Your life in the present moment is in between the past and the future. So what has preceded can be rectified by tawbah (repentance), nadam (regret) and istighfar (seeking Allaah’s forgiveness). And this is something that will neither tire you, nor cause you to toil as you would with strenuous labour. Rather it is an action of the heart. Then as regards the future (then it can be corrected) by withholding yourself from sins.

The Two Fundamental Principles with regards to worship in Islaam

Shaykhul-Islaam Taqiyyu-deen Ahmad bin Taymiyyah al-Harraani ( رحمه الله تعالى )

These are the two great fundamental principles:

·       Firstly: We worship Allaah alone.
·       Secondly: We do not worship Him except with that which was legislated upon us, and we do not worship Him with innovated acts of worship.

These two foundations are the implementation of “I testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah alone (in Truth) and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allaah.
Allaah, the Most High said:

لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا
That He may test you which of you is best in deed.”[1]

Throw Yourself Between the Hands of Allaah - Ibnul Qayyim

‘If the servant of Allah سُبحانه وتعالى knows that he cannot escape nor change the plan of Allah, he will commit all his affairs to Allah and throw himself between His hands as a humble servant throws himself between the hands of a mighty king who has authority over him - and indeed the servant has no power of his own. When the servant knows all that, he will be relieved from all distress and sadness and will pass the burden to Allah who does not care or get tired.

Curing the Heart

 :
Al-Haafidh Ibn Hajr Al-Asqalaane
“The heart has been singled out for this because it is the leader of the body, and through the purification of the leader the subjects become purified, and with his corruption they become corrupted. So if you, O’ servant of Allaah, wish to cure your heart, then it is upon you to be truthful with regards to seeking refuge with Allaah and putting your trust in Him, to pray a great deal of supererogatory prayers, to perform the actions of obedience to Allaah frequently, to pray the night prayer while the people are sleeping, and to treat your heart by making it continuously stick to the remembrances, and by befriending only the righteous … and to frequently recite the Qur’aan, and
".Allaah will allow all of this to be preserved by him
